OMAHA, Neb. -- The 14th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team recorded its first shutout of the season, downing Dakota Wesleyan University, 8-0, Wednesday afternoon at John Stella Field at Brown Park.

With the win, the Bruins improved to 13-4 on the season with their sixth-straight victory. DWU fell to 3-8 overall.

The Bruins, who used eight pitchers in the contest, outhit the Tigers, 10-7, in the victory.

Anthony Lind and Nick Grade both drove in three runs on the day to lead the BU offense.

Logan Grant's two-out RBI single to center field gave the Bruins an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Bruins increased the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second frame on a sacrifice fly to center field by Drew Staley that drove in Grade from third.

A sacrifice fly to deep right field by Grade drove in Lind from third to make it 3-0 in the third.

BU added four runs in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run single to left field by Lind and a two-run double to center by Grade, making it 7-0.

An infield ground-out RBI by Lind made it 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Neither team scored for the remainder of the contest.

Dustin Schorie (1-0) was credited with the win, allowing three hits with three strikeouts in the first two innings of the contest.

Alexander Mizsak (0-2) was tagged with the loss, giving up seven runs on eight hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 3.2 innings on the mound.

The Bruins will host Viterbo University in a four-game conference series on Sunday-Monday, March 19-20 at Brown Park. Sunday's doubleheader will begin at noon. Monday's twin bill will commence at 11 a.m.
