Southpaw Miller signs with Bellevue baseball

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Kenji Miller (Shoreline, Wash./Everett CC) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Miller joins the Bruins from Everett Community College in Everett, Wash. where he was a two-year starter on the hill for the Trojans. During his career he started 22 games, going 9-3 with a 2.03 ERA across 128.1 innings of work. He struck out 113 batters while issuing just 31 free passes and limiting opponents to just a .217 batting average.

This past season, Miller earned first team all-NWAC North honors and second team all-NWAC recognition. Improving upon a stellar debut season in 2021, Miller went 5-2 with a 1.62 ERA, striking out 64 and issuing just 19 walks in 85 innings on the bump. Opponents hit just .226 against him as his WHIP climbed to 1.071 from 1.015 the previous season.

Coach Monlux on Miller:

"We are absolutely thrilled to have signed Kenji to a letter of intent for the 2022-23 school year. We feel he is one of our top signings in this recruiting class. He has enjoyed two outstanding seasons pitching for Everett CC out in Washington in the NWAC. He is a left-handed pitcher that just knows how to pitch. He has thrown over 125 innings in two seasons and has a sub-2.10 ERA. We can't wait to get him on campus so he can begin his Bruin career."

Miller joins earlier signees Hunter Herpel (OF, Mayville, Wis./Hibbing CC), Ayden Adams (RHP, Federal Way, Wash./Everett CC), Titus Oien (LHP, Vancouver, Wash./Clark College), Nick Grade (3B, Kennewick, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Logan Grant (UT, Calgary, Alta.), Jake Lacey (OF, Gillette, Wyo./Miles CC), Jacob Pubill (RHP, Daly City, Calif./Laney College), Parker McMan (RHP, Bozeman, Mont./Umpqua CC), and Jared Eifler (RHP, Calgary, Alta./Shoreline CC) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

Bellevue is coming off a 2022 season in which the program made its 15th Avista NAIA World Series appearance. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 49-13 overall mark, going 25-2 in conference play and sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU took the league's lone automatic bid in making their 24th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosted their fourth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field, and reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in the past six full seasons.
