BU adds right-hander Eifler to recruiting class

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Jared Eifler (Calgary, Alta./Shoreline CC) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Eifler began his collegiate career at Douglas Community College in New Westminster, B.C. During the 2019 season, he started eight games for the Royals, going 1-5 with a 5.74 ERA in 42.1 innings of work.

He did not pitch again until the 2022 campaign at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Wash. This past spring he appeared in eight games with four starts, going 1-2 with a 3.24 ERA and a save. He struck out nearly a batter an inning, fanning 27 hitters in 33.1 innings of work while opponents hit just .263 off him, down nearly 70 points from his freshman campaign.

Coach Monlux on Eifler:

"Jared is a kid that we are happy to have signed. He has pitched quality innings in the NWAC during his two seasons playing there. He has shown the ability to get college hitters out and we believe his best days are still ahead of him. He is a quality individual that will fit right in to the Bruin baseball family."

Eifler joins earlier signees Hunter Herpel (OF, Mayville, Wis./Hibbing CC), Ayden Adams (RHP, Federal Way, Wash./Everett CC), Titus Oien (LHP, Vancouver, Wash./Clark College), Nick Grade (3B, Kennewick, Wash./Columbia Basin College), Logan Grant (UT, Calgary, Alta.), Jake Lacey (OF, Gillette, Wyo./Miles CC), Jacob Pubill (RHP, Daly City, Calif./Laney College), and Parker McMan (RHP, Bozeman, Mont./Umpqua CC) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

Bellevue is coming off a 2022 season in which the program made its 15th Avista NAIA World Series appearance. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 49-13 overall mark, going 25-2 in conference play and sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU took the league's lone automatic bid in making their 24th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosted their fourth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field, and reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in the past six full seasons.
