Bruins announce first baseball signing in LHP Crippen

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Blake Crippen (Hillsboro, Ore./Lane CC) to a Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall.

Crippen, a 6-0 left-handed pitcher, joins the Bruins from Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore. where he pitched for the Titans for two seasons. He logged 12 innings in six appearances as a freshman in 2018 before redshirting in 2019 and having his 2020 season canceled by the COVID pandemic.

Coming back strong in 2021, Crippen totaled nine starts in 10 appearances. He pitched to a 4-3 record with a 2.93 ERA over 46 innings of work and allowed opponents to hit just .224 against him.

Coach Monlux on Crippen:

"We are pumped to have signed Blake to a letter of intent to join the Bruins. He is a very experienced left-handed pitcher that has pitched in a lot of games in his career. He threw very well in the NWAC for the two years that he played. He has three years of eligibility left when he gets to Bellevue. We expect big things from Blake in a Bruin uniform."

Bellevue finished the year at 41-18, won the NSAA Regular-Season title, and reached the NAIA National Tournament for the 23rd time in program history. It was their eighth 40-win campaign in the last nine full seasons of competition.
