Millard North's Nordin signs with Bruins

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Cole Nordin (Omaha, Neb./Millard North HS) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2020.

The son of Chris and Tracey, Nordin – a catcher, first baseman, and right-handed pitcher – joins the Bruins after a high school career at Millard North High School.

As a junior at Millard North, Nordin hit .408 with a 1.018 OPS in 26 games, helping guide the Mustangs to a 32-13 record. He totaled five extra-base hits, including a home run, while drive in 19 and scoring 14 runs. His batting averaged ranked second on the team in 2019.

On the hill, pitched to a 2-2 record with a pair of saves and a 3.21 ERA. Nordin totaled 17 strikeouts in 28.1 innings of work.

During his time at Millard North, the team won a pair of district titles (2018, 2019).

Nordin, the first freshman to sign in 2020, joins earlier signees Dalton Stamper (Lewiston, Idaho/Wenatchee Valley), Nate Smith (Eagle, Idaho/Blue Mountain CC), and Matt Johnson (Meridian, Idaho/Blue Mountain CC) in the Bruins' signing class.

Bellevue posted a 9-11 record in the shortened 2020 campaign. The Bruins qualified for the Avista NAIA World Series twice in the previous four seasons and reached nine-straight NAIA National Tournaments. In the program's storied history, BU has qualified for 22 National Tournaments, made 14 World Series Appearances, and won the 1995 NAIA National Championship.
