Baseball signs Infielder Jesus (Chuy) Jimenez

Bruin head baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of junior college transfer Jesus (Chuy) Jimenez to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning this fall.

Jimenez, a junior from South San Francisco, Calif., is a 5-11, 180-pound infielder who played two seasons at Cañada College in Redwood City, Calif. where he earned first-team all-Coast Conference (Pacific Division) honors in 2018.  In his sophomore season with the Colts, Jimenez batted .315 with 10 doubles, 23 runs scored, and 20 RBIs.

"We are really excited about Chuy signing to be a member of the Bruin family," said Monlux. "He is a tremendous defensive player that can play multiple positions in the infield. His .973 fielding percentage over the past two seasons is very impressive. He also had a hand in turning 31 double plays this past season. Chuy has a very bright future in a Bruin uniform."

Jimenez joins earlier signees Daniel Teasley (OF, Rio Dell, Calif.), Hunter Jury (C; Davis, Calif.), Colton Walker (RHP; Goldendale, Wash.), Anthony Alvarado (LHP; Wapato, Wash.), Cody Banks (3B; Duvall, Wash.), Derek Browne (RHP; Maple Valley, Wash.), Wataru Kazama (SS/2B; Tokyo, Japan), and Jarrett Poh (LHP; Varina, Va.) in this year's recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up the 2018 season with a 38-23 overall record (17-5 NSAA) and won their second North Star Tournament in the last three seasons. The Bruins earned their eighth-straight NAIA Opening Round bid and 21st NAIA National Tournament Appearance in the program's storied history.
