MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior Kory Longaker (Edmonds, Wash.) has been recognized as the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Longaker had a tremendous week for the Bruins as the team posted a 5-0 record to run their win streak to a season-long six games. He picked up a season-high four hits, including his fourth home run of the season, in BU's 20-3 win over Viterbo on Sunday afternoon.
The Bruin leadoff hitter recorded four multi-hit games and slashed an impressive .542/.538/.708. In addition to going a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases, Longaker led the Bruins with 13 hits, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored on the week.
For the season Longaker is now slashing .408/.477/.580 and leads the team in numerous categories including; batting average (.408), on-base percentage (.477), hits (69), runs scored (47), and doubles (15) while ranking second in stolen bases (17), total bases (98), and extra-base hits (20).
BU (29-19, 14-4 NSAA) is coming off a four-game NSAA sweep of Viterbo University and the Bruins have won a season-high six-straight ball games. Next up, the Bruins host Peru State College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at John Stella Field at Brown Park.
