BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Seniors Sean McManus (Palm Coast, Fla.) and Osvaldo Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.) have been named the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. No. 14 Bellevue was a perfect 5-0 last week, including a dominating sweep of Central Christian over the weekend to improve to 31-7 overall and 10-2 in league play.

Gonzalez had a monster week last week with a triple slash line of .619/.680/1.524 to go along with four doubles, five home runs, and 20 runs batted in. The Division I transfer continues to make his case for a bevy of conference and national postseason awards. He leads the nation in doubles (25), total bases (119), and slugging percentage (.910) and ranks highly in batting average (2nd, .485), hits (4th, 64), home runs (11th, 10), and RBI (11th, 46).

McManus tossed 12 solid innings while recording a pair of victories last week. He allowed just one run on 10 hits while striking out 14 to improve his record to 6-1 on the season. After appearing in just four games a season ago McManus has come into his own this season, earning a spot in the weekend pitching rotation. In seven appearances, all starts, McManus has logged 40.2 innings on the bump with a team-best three complete games and shutouts. He's struck out 40 batters at a clip of just under 1.0 per inning and has posted a solid 2.43 ERA.

The Bruins host a critical four-game set with No. 10 Oklahoma Wesleyan this weekend at Roddy Field on the campus of Bellevue East High School. The Bruins and Eagles square off in a pair of double-headers, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday.
