Baseball standout Robert Greco was named the Bellevue University Male Athlete of the Year, while volleyball's Jordan Broady and softball's Amanda Neumann shared Female Athlete of the Year honors in an announcement made today in conjunction with the 40th Annual Bellevue University Athletic Banquet.
A two-time first team all-conference pitcher, Greco helped lead the Bruin baseball team to 45-10-1 overall record, the MCAC regular season title, an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament and a No. 11 final national ranking.
Greco finished with an 8-4 record, a 2.33 ERA and a team second-best 93 strikeouts.
An excellent student, Greco is a three-time MCAC Scholar-Athlete honoree.
Broady capped her four-year Bruin career by earning second team NAIA All-American honors while leading Bellevue to a school-record 36 wins, finishing with a 36-11 overall mark and a perfect 13-0 record in the MCAC. Bellevue won the MCAC regular season and tournament titles, advancing to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the sixth-straight season.
A three-time all-West Central Region first team honoree, Broady was named the 2012 MCAC Player of the Year, while also earning first team all-MCAC honors for the fourth time in her career.
Broady recorded a team-high 17 double-doubles on the season, including five triple-doubles.
She ranked second nationally with 1,730 assists which sits in fourth on the Bruins' all-time single-season records' chart. Broady finished her BU career ranked second in school history in career assists (6,032), eighth in service aces (145), and 11th in digs (1,271) and block assists (228).
Neumann was named the MCAC co-Player of the Year while guiding the Bruins to a 42-11 overall record, the MCAC Tournament title, and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
A versatile athlete, Neumann split time as a pitcher, shortstop and third basemen. She set the school record this season with 22 doubles, which ranked third nationally. Neumann also tied the school record with 19 home runs, which also ranked third in the national statistics.
Neumann led the Bruins with 71 RBIs, 22 doubles, 19 home runs and was second with a .361 batting average and a .775 slugging percentage. In the circle, she finished the year with a 16-4 record, a 2.44 ERA and a team-leading 159 strikeouts.
On the BU softball career records chart, Neumann finished her career ranked second in home runs (48) and slugging percentage (.744), and third in doubles (44), total bases (399), shutouts (14), and strikeouts (493).
