Castillon signs with Bellevue baseball
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Head coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of catcher Mason Castillon (Paukalani, Hawaii/Olympic College/Kamehameha HS) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Bellevue University.

A 2011 NWAACC North Region Gold Glove catcher, Castillon finished the season with a .983 fielding percentage and threw out 61 percent of runners attempting to steal.

"Mason gives us another quality defensive catcher who had an outstanding defensive season for Olympic College," said Monlux. "In order to be successful as a team, we have to be solid behind the plate. We feel we have added some really good catching candidates to the 2012 Bruin baseball team."

Castillon joins the Bruins' earlier signees Aaron Beil (Omaha, Neb.), Tyler Blood (Salt Lake City, Utah), Zack Clark (Luverne, Minn.), Beau Dahmen (Genesee, Idaho), Frank Haskett (Orofino, Idaho), Vance Keller (Tacoma, Wash.), Dusty Kerns (Lewiston, Idaho), Ryan Knutz (Rochester, Wash.), Danny Martinez (Brighton, Colo.), Kody McFarland (Sugar City, Idaho), Ryan Moore (Monroe, Wash.), Tanner Moore (Omaha, Neb.), Paul Morrow (Omaha, Neb.), Taylor Stark (Auburn, Wash.) and Steve Weideman (Gretna, Neb.) in the 2011-12 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 31-22 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round after winning the 2011 MCAC Tournament title.
