Monlux signs three junior college transfers
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head baseball coach Duane Moxlux announced today the signings of catcher Frank Haskett (Orofino, Idaho/Grays Harbor College), catcher/outfielder Dusty Kerns (Lewiston, Idaho/Yakima Valley CC/Lewiston HS) and right-handed pitcher Taylor Stark (Auburn, Wash./Grays Harbor College) to letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University.

Haskett played two seasons at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, Wash., and hit .254 with 10 doubles and 19 RBIs.

"Frank gives us another veteran catcher that has had a lot of college game action," said Monlux. "He was the every day catcher for Grays Harbor College last season."

A native of Lewiston, Idaho, Kerns hit .274 with 10 doubles, three triples and 29 RBIs in two seasons at Yakima Volley Community College in Yakima, Wash.

"Dusty is a versatile player that could play a number of different roles for Bellevue University," said Monlux. "He has spent time behind the plate and in the outfield. I can see him moving around quite a bit for us in the future."

Stark, who also played at Grays Harbor College, compiled a 4.12 ERA with 91.2 innings pitched along with 56 strikeouts in two seasons.

"We expect Taylor to add some depth to our pitching staff in 2012. He threw a lot of innings in the NWAACC and has done quite well," said Monlux.

The trio joins the Bruins' earlier signees Aaron Beil (Omaha, Neb.), Tyler Blood (Salt Lake City, Utah), Beau Dahmen (Genesee, Idaho), Ryan Knutz (Rochester, Wash.), Kody McFarland (Sugar City, Idaho), Tanner Moore (Omaha, Neb.), Paul Morrow (Omaha, Neb.), and Steve Weideman (Gretna, Neb.) in the 2011-12 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 31-22 overall record, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round after winning the 2011 MCAC Tournament title.
