Nine-run 7th inning lifts Bruins past Eagles, 12-4

YORK, Neb. -- A nine-run seventh inning propelled the Bellevue University baseball team to a 12-4 win against Oklahoma Wesleyan University Wednesday night in the MCAC Conference Tournament at Levitt Stadium. The Bruins advance to Friday's championship game at 1:00 p.m.

Bellevue is now 30-19 overall while Oklahoma Wesleyan dropped to 30-19.

Juan Rodriguez, Anthony Bazant and Spencer Duggan each recorded home runs and Junior Martinez also added a RBI single and the Bruins took advantage of two errors by OWU to break open the game in the seventh inning.

OWU led the game off with a solo home run by Cory Ford and added two unearned runs in third inning.

Bazant hit his first home run in the fourth inning, a solo blast to left field, and Tylor Pavel hit a RBI double to give BU its first two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth.

The Eagles scored their fourth run of the game in the eighth inning on a RBI single by Shane Elliot. 

The Bruins added their final run of the game on a bases loaded walk to Pavel that scored Martinez from third base in the bottom half of the eighth.

Mike Andrick improved to 8-5 this season with a complete game eight-hitter. The senior from San Francisco, Calif., also added six strikeouts. Thomas Kellner (6-5) took the loss for the Eagles, allowing eight runs in 6.1 innings of work.
