BU Track competes at first event

HASTINGS, Neb. -- Bellevue University competed in their first track meet in school history on Sunday and turned in several strong performances at the Hastings Invitational.

The Bruins began the day with a third place showing in the men's 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:08.94 for the team comprised of Cole Wagner, Chris Casart, Aaron Newton, and Jason Landin.

Individually, the top finishes of the day were produced by Lorena Ramirez for the women with a pair of seventh place finishes in the 1500 (5:29.13) and 5000 (20:51.64) meter runs.

Casart recorded the top men's finish, placing sixth in the 5000 meter run in a time of 17:15.26.

Coach Craig Christians:

"It was great to finally get some racing under our belts after several months of training. I was really pleased with how we performed today when you consider that all of those other schools have spent the last few months competing indoors while we have been running outside in what was a very tough winter. When we get into racing shape, I think we are going to see some huge improvements."

Up Next:

Bellevue will run at the Concordia Invite on Friday-Saturday, Apr. 5-6.
