Cloey and Emily Usher to join Bruin Distance program

Bellevue University head cross country/distance track coach Craig Christians today announced the signing of sisters Cloey and Emily Usher to the Bruin cross country and distance track program. Cloey and Emily have competed for two years for the Trojans of North Iowa Area Community College and are residents of Charles City, Iowa.

Cloey has competed in distance races from 800 meters to the half marathon during her time at NIACC. Her personal bests include 2:46 at 800 meters on the track and 21:31 for five kilometers in cross country. Christians commented, "I love Cloey's willingness to challenge herself with multiple races and she covers a great range of distances. It's clear that she isn't afraid of a challenge and has the desire to work hard to improve."

Emily considers herself a track specialist and has raced a wide range of races from 60 to 600 meters but has also helped the team on the 4 x 800 meter relay as well as on the cross country course. "Emily is going to add a new dimension to our team with her track skills," said Christians. "At the same time, I love her willingness to step out of her comfort zone in a longer race. She'll be a big help to our program."

Cloey and Emily join Grace Steinmetz of Heartland Christian as members of the 2025 signing class.
