BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the fourth time this season, senior Madison Nelson has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at last week's Blazing Tiger Invite held at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Neb.
Nelson placed 10th out of 303 runners, finishing in a time of 22:13.0 in the 6-kilometer race. She was first among NSAA runners, including runners from Dakota State, Dickinson State, and Jamestown.
Nelson was just six seconds off her own school record over the 6K distance.
The Blazing Tiger Invite marked the end of the regular season for the Bruin cross country squad as they now point to the NSAA Championships on Nov. 8 in Valley City, N.D. The championship team and the next four non-qualifying individuals will qualify for the NAIA National Championships in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 22.
