BISMARCK, N.D. -- For the second time this season and the 13th time in her Bellevue University career, senior All-American Madison Nelson has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance at last week's Greeno/Dirksen Invitational host by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University. 

Nelson finished 36th overall at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite in a field of 230 runners from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA. She was the fifth NAIA runner behind four runners from the NAIA No. 1-ranked University of Saint Mary (Kan.). She posted a 5K time of 18:55.6 in very warm and humid conditions. 

The Bruins will get the opportunity to run on the National Championship course this week when they travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. Race time for the women is set for 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. They will run the National Championship distance of 6K for the first time this season.
