LINCOLN, Neb. -- Two-time All-American Madison Nelson turned in another impressive outing at Saturday's Greeno/Dirksen Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan and the University of Nebraska. She cracked the individual awards podium for the first time in three tries at this meet with an 18:55.6 clocking over the five-kilometer course. The meet was run over the gently rolling hills of Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, which had very warm and humid conditions impacting times. Her 36th place finish in the field of 230 runners followed the finishes of mostly NCAA Division I athletes and four women from NAIA No. 1 ranked University of Saint Mary (Kan.).

Alicia Rivera Camargo also represented the Bruins on the course and just missed a top-half performance with her 129th-place finish. Her time was 20:45.0

Head Coach Craig Christians: "The conditions were tough today, and I liked how the women just put their heads down and got through it. They were both about a minute off of what they ran at Augie, but that was run under ideal weather conditions and on a fast racetrack course. I am completely happy with the effort today. This is a building block toward good things ahead for these two. We've worked hard in some particularly hot weather over the past couple of weeks, and I don't think that we're going to see the result of that work immediately, but it's going to come. I like the direction we're moving."

The Bruins will get the opportunity to run on the National Championship course next week when they travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. Race time for the women is Friday morning at 10:15 a.m. They will run the National Championship distance of 6K for the first time this season.
