BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bellevue University senior Madison Nelson (Plattsmouth, Neb.) has been selected as the North Star Athletic Association's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, as announced by the NSAA office on Tuesday.
The award is the 12th weekly honor of Nelson's BU career. She finished 25th in the 239-runner field at last Friday's Augustana Twilight at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The 20 teams competing represented all three NCAA Divisions, the NAIA, and junior college ranks.
Nelson was the second NAIA finisher, completing the 5K course in career-best time of 17:56.76. That time was just 1.19 seconds behind Morningside's Courtney Sporrer for the top NAIA spot.
The Bruins next compete at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational at Mahoney Park Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, Sept. 21.
