Ramirez turns in outstanding performance at Nationals

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Bellevue University sophomore Lorena Ramirez (Bellevue, Neb.) became the first BU student-athlete to compete at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Friday at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

After racing to a 10th place finish at the NSAA Championships, Ramirez turned in a 128th place performance on Friday in a talented field featuring 340 of the nation's top runners.

Ramirez finished the race in 19:38, just two seconds off her personal best, which was set back on Oct. 26 at the Mount Marty Invite.

She was the second runner from the North Star Athletic Association across the finish line, bested by only Dickinson State's Jacey Wilson by less than seven seconds.
