
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Led by Lorena Ramirez, the Bellevue University women's cross country team placed fourth in the eight-team season-opening Bill Buxton Invite being hosted by Simpson College.
Host Simpson won the meet with a team score of 35. Graceland placed second at 65 points. Buena Vista edged the Bruins by one point with a score of 79, compared to BU's total of 80.
Ramirez placed third on the 4K course with a time of 16:53.6. Buena Vista had the meet's top two runners with Emily Hoesing winning individual honors at 16:42.4. Teammate Quiana Roderick was second at 16:47.2
Freshman Alisiara Hobbs finished in 11th place in the field of 63 with a time of 17:38.5. Maiwut Dar was 12th at 17:45.9 and Isabelle Gonzalez was 22nd at 18:23.9.
The Bruins will compete next in the Bronco Invitational in Hastings, Neb. on Saturday, Sept. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
