JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The third-ranked University of Jamestown volleyball team swept eighth-ranked Bellevue University 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-20) Friday night in North Star Athletic Association action at Harold Newman Arena. 

The loss snapped the Bruins' 10-match winning streak as BU fell to 14-3 on the season and 1-1 in the NSAA. UJ remains unbeaten, improving to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in league action. 

Juniors Eve Fountain and Kealy Kiviniemi led the Bruins with 12 kills apiece. Kiviniemi hit .526 with just two errors in 19 swings. Fountain hit .333 while adding seven digs. 

Taylan Keefer led BU defensively with nine digs. Mila Aiwohi finished with 19 assists, three service aces, and three digs. Victoria Runyan contributed with 11 assists, two aces and a pair of digs. 

Aleah Zieske paced the Jimmies with 18 kills on .469 hitting while adding nine digs and two aces. 

UJ outhit the Bruins .370 to .189.  

The Jimmies battled back from a 20-16 deficit in the first set, closing the frame on a 9-2 run to take the opener, 25-22. UJ capitalized on eight Bruin hitting errors as BU hit just .065 in the first. Kiviniemi and Fountain led BU in the opener with three kills apiece. Zieske paced UJ with four kills and four digs.  

Jamestown led from start to finish in the second set and closed the frame on a 10-1 run to cruise to the 25-14 victory. The Jimmies hit .500 in the set, led by Zieske's five kills. Fountain (4) and Kiviniemi (3) combined for seven of the Bruins' 10 kills in the second stanza. 

The Jimmies raced out to an 18-9 lead in the third set, before a kill by Fountain capped a 10-4 BU run as the Bruins closed the gap to three points at 22-19. Jamestown ended the match on a 3-1 spurt to claim the sweep with the 25-20 victory.  

The Bruins will head to Dickinson, N.D. tomorrow (Sept. 28) for a noon (central time) NSAA matchup at Dickinson State University.
