
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 15th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team hit .344 with just five hitting errors en route to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-15) victory over McPherson College in non-conference play Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
With the win, the Bruins improved to 10-5 on the season. MC dropped to 8-8 overall.
Haley Fleischman, who played her first match as an outside hitter, led BU with eight kills while adding two digs and a block.
Olivia Galas dished out 30 assists, collected seven kills on 11 errorless swings, and added eight digs, five blocks, and a pair of service aces.
Jacki Apel hit .417 with six kills and a match-high six blocks.
Defensively, BU was paced by Taylan Keefer's 15 digs as the Bruins held MC to a .096 attacking efficiency.
The Bulldogs were led by Kylie Willis, who had 11 kills, four digs, and a service ace.
Cynarah Rodriguez chipped in 26 assists, four digs, and a pair of kills.
The Bruins used a 10-3 midway through the first set to pull away for the 25-18 win. Galas and Apel combined for six kills on eight swings in the opening frame.
Four Bruins had three kills in the second set as BU closed the set on a 5-1 run to earn the 25-21 victory.
Bellevue hit a blistering .450 in the final stanza and ended the contest on a 10-2 run, highlighted by a six-point serving burst by Raeanne Kimoto.
The Bruins will return to conference play on Friday, Sept. 23, when they entertain Mayville State University at 2 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
