
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- After guiding the Bruins to their best finish in the NAIA National Tournament since the 2000 season, junior setter Olivia Galas was honored by being named to the all-tournament team at the 2021 NAIA Volleyball National Championships.
Galas led Bellevue to a pair of four-set victories in pool play action as BU downed No. 16 Ottawa (Ariz.) University and No. 8 Corban University to capture first place in Pool H, advancing to the Elite 8 single elimination bracket.
The Bruins eventually fell to top-ranked Jamestown, 3-0, in the NAIA Quarterfinals.
Galas averaged 10.36 assists and 2.27 digs in the three tournament matches. She also added nine kills, five service aces, and five blocks.
In the victory over Ottawa, Galas recorded a double-double, finishing with 46 assists and 15 digs, while adding four aces and a pair of kills.
She collected 34 assists, six kills, and a pair of blocks in the win over Corban.
Galas capped the week with 34 assists, seven digs, and three blocks in the three-set loss to top-ranked Jamestown.
Bellevue ended the season with a 26-8 overall record, finishing second in both the NSAA regular season as well as the NSAA Tournament. This season also marked the 14th time BU has advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and the first time the Bruins have advanced out of pool play action into bracket play since 2000.
Missouri Baptist won the 2021 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship in five sets over Park (Mo.).
