BU Volleyball signs Waverly's Kudym

The Bellevue University volleyball team under head coach Trish Siedlik announced today the signing of 5-10 middle blocker Taylor Kudym (Eagle, Neb./Waverly HS) to a letter of intent to continue her volleyball and academic careers at BU beginning later this fall.

Kudym, the daughter of Chad and Renae Kudym, was a two-year letterwinner for coach Terri Neujhar at Waverly High School. She helped lead the Vikings to an appearance at the 2020 Nebraska State Tournament in Class B.

She compiled 127 kills, 53 digs, 41 blocks, and six service aces in her two seasons at WHS.

Kudym played club volleyball for Volleyball Club Nebraska (VCN) under coach Maggie Griffin. She helped lead her VCN 16 Black team to a fifth-place finish at Junior Nationals in 2019.

"Taylor is an athletic middle with untapped potential," said Siedlik. "She has a great attitude and will fit in perfectly with our group, not only on the court but in the classroom. Taylor comes from winning programs at both Waverly High School and VCNebraska and has been in pressure situations that will prove valuable as she begins her collegiate career at BU."

Kudym joins earlier signee 6-0 MB/RS Haley Fleischmann (Overton, Neb./Overton HS) in the 2021 recruiting class.

The Bruins finished the 2020 season with a 17-7 overall record, making their 13th appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Bellevue won its first-ever NSAA regular-season title with a 12-2 league record. The Bruins finished second in the NSAA Tournament earning an at-large berth to the NAIA National Tournament. BU defeated Texas Wesleyan to earn a trip to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa.
