Galas, Fountain earn NSAA weekly recognition

MADISON, S.D. -- Freshman outside hitter Eve Fountain and junior setter Olivia Galas have both been honored this week by the North Star Athletic Association for their performances in the Bruins' three conference matches last week. 

Fountain earned NSAA Attacker of the Week honors for the second time this season while Galas was named the NSAA Setter of the Week for the fifth time this season and the 20th time in her career. 

Fountain produced a pair of double-doubles on the week while averaging 4.50 kills and 3.75 digs per set in the Bruins' three matches against Dakota State, Mayville State, and Presentation. Against MSU, Fountain finished with 25 kills, 15 digs, two blocks, and a pair of service aces. In the win over Presentation that clinched the NSAA regular-season title for BU, Fountain collected 20 kills, 12 digs, and two blocks. 

Fountain currently leads the Bruins and is second in the NSAA with a .276 hitting percentage and 3.7 kills per set. She has also recorded a team-leading nine double-doubles on the season. 

Galas averaged 11.58 assists, 2.42 digs, and 1.25 kills in the three matches. She nearly recorded a triple-double despite leaving the match against Mayville following a collision with libero Anna Koehler. In that match, she tallied 53 assists, nine kills, and nine digs. In the win over Presentation, Galas produced 50 assists, nine digs, and four kills. In the three-game sweep over Dakota State, Galas notched a double-double with 36 assists and 11 digs. 

Galas currently leads the NSAA and ranks sixth nationally with 11.11 assists per set. She ranks 15th nationally with 733 total assists.  

The Bruins earned the No. 1 seed in the NSAA Post-season Tournament. Bellevue will host eighth-seeded Waldorf University at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30 in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
