Squiers picks up third-straight NSAA Setter of the Week Award

MADISON, S.D. -- For the third successive week, sophomore Maddie Squiers has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Setter of the Week for her performance in Bellevue's four matches last week. It is the 10th time in her career that she has won this weekly recognition.

Squiers recorded double-doubles in three of Bellevue's four matches on the week, dishing out at least 39 assists in each match. Against College of the Ozarks, Squiers turned out a tournament-high 56 assists to go along with 22 digs. In the Bruins' win over John Brown she registered 39 assists and a career-high 23 digs.

In BU's four matches Squiers averaged 11.61 assists and 4.33 digs per set. She added eight service aces and six block assists in the tournament.

Last Week:

Bellevue, ranked 21st in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, won all four of their matches at the Evangel Classic in Springfield, Mo. The weekend began on Friday with a five-set thriller against (RV) College of the Ozarks before BU went on to upend host Evangel in four sets. The Bruins then went on to sweep both Peru State and John Brown to wrap up the tournament unbeaten.

The Bruins (10-3 | 0-0 NSAA) open conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 13 when they host Waldorf University (1-9 | 0-0 NSAA) at 7 p.m. at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
