Freshman setter Maddie Squiers has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Setter of the Week and sophomore rightside hitter Shayla Scanlan was tabbed as the NSAA's Attacker of the Week for the week ending Sept. 25. The duo helped lead the Bruins to three conference victories last week. 

Scanlan hit .420 on the week with 3.86 kills per sets and nine total blocks. In the Bruins' three-game sweep at Valley City State, Scanlan pounded out 10 kills on .474 hitting, while adding four blocks. She hit .765 with 14 kills and just one error in 17 attempts in BU's four-game win at Mayville State. 

In the most recent NSAA statistics, Scanlan ranks third in hitting percentage (.329), seventh in kills per set (2.7) and second in blocks per set (1.1). 

Squiers, who earned NSAA Setter of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, averaged an impressive 13.2 assists per game while adding 17 digs, seven blocks and a service ace in the three matches. 

She collected her team-leading eighth double-double of the season in the Bruins' four-game win over Waldorf, finishing with 56 assists and 10 digs, along with three blocks. Squiers matched her assist total of 56 in Bellevue's four-set victory at Mayville State last Saturday.

In the latest NAIA national statistics, Squiers ranks first in total assists with 852 and sixth in assists per game at 11.06. 

The 18th-ranked Bruins have won eight-straight matches and are currently 15-5 on the season and 4-0 in the NSAA. Bellevue will travel to Crete, Neb. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest at 17th-ranked Doane University.
