Squiers nets second-straight weekly NSAA honor

MADISON, S.D. -- For the second-straight week, freshman Maddie Squiers has earned North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Setter of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 4. 

The freshman from Kearney, Neb. helped lead the Bruins to a 3-1 record on the week, including victories over No. 15 Rocky Mountain College and No. 22 Ottawa University. 

Squiers dished out 189 assists (11.81 apg), while adding 18 kills, 38 digs, nine blocks and five service aces over the four matches. 

Squiers leads the Bruins with six double-doubles on the season. In the five-set victory over Ottawa, she recorded 54 assists, 12 digs, seven kills and three blocks.

She currently leads the NSAA with 10.2 assists per game. Squiers dished out a season-high 58 assists, while adding 14 digs, three service aces and a pair of kills in BU's five-set loss to No. 10 MidAmerica Nazarene University. 

The Bruins (7-5) will travel to Springfield, Mo. this Friday-Saturday, Sept. 9-10 to compete in the Evangel University Classic.
