SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that 455 volleyball student-athletes, including Bellevue University's Beth Walker, have been named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Walker was previously honored as the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, a first team all-MCAC selection, a first team all-Region honoree, an MCAC Scholar-Athlete, and a six-time MCAC Setter of the Week.

Walker, named an All-American a season ago, recorded a team-leading 21 double-doubles this season and averaged 9.82 assists per set which easily ranked first within the conference and fourth nationally among players who have appeared in at least 150 sets. Her 1,512 assists ranked 10th across the NAIA. In addition to being named first team all-region and MCAC Player of the Year, Walker was also recognized as an all-MCAC first team selection for the second-straight year after earning honorable mention accolades as a freshman in 2012.

Walker has a double major in psychology and sociology. 

Concordia (Neb.) University led all institutions with 10 individuals on the list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

The Bruins finished the 2014 season with a 22-20 overall record and tied for second in the MCAC with a 6-2 league mark.
