Volleyball inks Smith for 2014

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball program has announced today the signing of 6-3 right side/middle blocker Kamille Smith (Spencer, Okla./Midwest City HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2014.

The daughter of Tracy and Kimberly, Smith was coached by Jocelyn Frederickson at Midwest City High School where she earned 6A all-city honorable mention honors in 2012.

"Kamille is a tall, raw, untouched, talented addition to our young group of freshmen," said head coach Trish Siedlik. "We are anxious to see how she will match up with our schedule next season."

She played club volleyball for the Oklahoma Creek Volleyball Club, OKC Juniors Volleyball Academy and the Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club.

Smith also excelled in the classroom where she was an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society at MCHS. She intends to major in psychology at Bellevue.

Smith joins earlier signees Rachel Wald (Omaha, Neb./Douglas County West HS), Pimi Dike (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS), Taylor Holz (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic HS), Gracie Myers (Treynor, Iowa/Treynor HS), Hope Lambrecht (Wood River, Neb./Wood River HS) and Hannah Taylor (Hallam, Neb./Lincoln Christian HS) in the 2014 recruiting class.

The 2013 Bruins finished the season with a 34-9 overall record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh-straight season.
