BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University volleyball program, under head coach Trish Siedlik, has announced today the signing of 5-8 outside hitter Rachel Wald (Omaha, Neb./Douglas County West HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2014.
The daughter of Bob and Tammi, Wald was a four-year starter and three-time team captain at Douglas County West High School.
"I am thrilled to have Rachel be a Bruin," said head coach Trish Siedlik. "She is strong and has a high volleyball IQ that she is not only going to raise her level here, but she is going to make others better as well. Our entire program worked very hard to have her join our program and she was well worth it."
She holds seven school records and earned second team all-state honors by the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal-Star as a senior. Wald was also named the DCWHS Female Athlete of the Year twice.
Wald also lettered in track and basketball and played club volleyball for Nebraska Impact under Bo Yong.
She was an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society at DCWHS.
Wald joins earlier signees Pimi Dike (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS), Taylor Holz (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic HS), Gracie Myers (Treynor, Iowa/Treynor HS), Hope Lambrecht (Wood River, Neb./Wood River HS) and Hannah Taylor (Hallam, Neb./Lincoln Christian HS) in the 2014 recruiting class.
The 2013 Bruins finished the season with a 34-9 overall record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh-straight season.
