Bruins win MCAC Tournament title with sweep over Waldorf

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Outside hitters Annie Benson and Caitlyn Rueth combined for 21 kills to lead the Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) sweep over Waldorf College in the MCAC Tournament championship match Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. 

The Bruins (34-9) earned an automatic berth into the NAIA Volleyball National Championship which begins next Saturday, Nov. 17, with Opening Round matches on campus sites. Selections for the tournament will be announced on Monday, Nov. 12 by noon.

Benson led the Bruins with 11 kills, nine digs and two service aces. Rueth added 10 kills on .500 hitting, while adding two blocks. Freshman Symone Faulkner collected eight kills on .545 hitting while adding a match-high four blocks. 

Jordan Broady, the 2012 MCAC Player of the Year, directed the BU offense to a .395 hitting percentage in the match, dishing out 38 assists, while adding two kills and a service ace. 

Meghan Evans paced the Bellevue defense with 12 digs, as BU held the Warriors a .124 hitting percentage. No Warrior finished in double figures. Abby Buehler and Klarissa Larsen led Waldorf with eight kills apiece.
