Wardian keys Bruins sweep over Sioux Falls

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Junior Maureen Wardian pounded 13 kills on .478 hitting to lead the 18th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-23) sweep over the University of Sioux Falls in opening action at the Bruin/Premier Classic Friday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue won its 12th-straight match, improving to 16-3 on the season. The Cougars fells to 14-8 overall.

Junior rightside hitter Kali Schnacker collected nine kills on .368 hitting, while Jaclyn Thorson, Annie Benson, and Ashley Wurdeman all added seven kills apiece.

Sophomore setter Jordan Broady directed the Bruins to a .236 attack percentage while collecting 36 assists, seven digs, two kills, and two block solos.

Katy Gregory paced the Bruin defense with a match-high 15 digs as BU held the Cougars to a .009 attack percentage.

Kaprice Glover led USF with seven kills, while Rachel Heeney added 14 digs.

The Bruins continue action at the tournament later today when they face Lindenwood University at 7 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
