No. 12 Tigers battle past Bruins in 4 games

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Olivet Nazarene's Sara Byrne collected 12 kills on .667 hitting to lead the No. 12-ranked Tigers to a 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-23) win over No. 17 Bellevue University Friday night in the Bruin Labor Day Classic at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

ONU improved to 3-3 on the season, while Bellevue dropped to 4-3 overall. Earlier in the day, Bellevue breezed past Hastings College 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-20). Hastings Box Score

Sophomore setter Jordan Broady registered her fourth double-double of the season with 28 assists and 10 digs. She also added seven kills on .500 hitting and added a pair of blocks.

For the second-straight match junior Kali Schnacker led BU in kills with 10. Freshman Annie Benson added nine kills, while junior Maureen Wardian recorded eight killsand two blocks.

The Bruins were plagued by 26 hitting errors, hitting .135 in the match. The Tigers held an 11-6 advantage in total team blocks while BU had a 59-56 edge in digs, led by a career-high 13 digs from freshman Andrea Johnson.

Bellevue will conclude the tournament on Saturday with a 9 a.m. match against Tabor and an 11 a.m. showdown with Morningside.
