BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Junior Kali Schnacker pounded 10 kills to lead the 17th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) win over Hastings College in the Bruins' opening match of the 2010 Bruin Labor Day Classic Friday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
The Bruins will battle 12th-ranked Olivet Nazarene University at 7 p.m. tonight.
Schnacker, who added four blocks, was the only player in double figures for either team. Senior Jaclyn Thorson hit .615 with eight kills, no errors in 13 attempts while adding three blocks. Freshman Annie Benson also added eight kills, to go along with a season-high six digs.
Sophomore setter Jordan Broady dished out 32 assists, while adding nine digs and three blocks.
Senior Katy Gregory and freshman Megan Evans combined for 28 digs to pace the BU defense, which held Hastings to a .086 hitting percentage.
Leah Dostal led the Broncos eight kills on .350 hitting.
