Alannah is the daugher of Scott and Norma VanGorder.
A four-sport athlete, VanGorder lettered in volleyball, basketball, tennis and golf at Canon City High School. She was a two-time second team all-conference selection in volleyball under head coach Becky Anderson. VanGorder was named team captain during her senior volleyball campaign.
"Alannah has the capability of getting better with hard work in the weight room and after adapting to the speed of the collegiate game. In the fall, she will get to compete against and learn from two of the best middles in the conference," said Siedlik.
An excellent student, VanGorder earned honorable mention academic all-state honors by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), as well as academic all-conference accolades.
"We are very excited that Alannah chose Bellevue University," added Siedlik. "She will help to continue our strong tradition as a perennial top 20 team in the nation."
VanGorder joins seven earlier signees: Annie Benson (5-10, OH, Springfield, Neb./Springfield-Platteview HS), Courtney Hendricks (5-10, MB/RS, Omaha, Neb./Millard West HS), Ashley Wurdeman (5-11, MB/OH, Columbus, Neb./Central CC/Lakeview HS), Meghan Evans, (5-4, DS, Omaha, Neb./BurkeHS), Andrea Johnson (5-7, S/DS, Omaha, Neb./Burke HS), Sydney DeBoer (5-11, MB, Seward, Neb./Seward HS) and Kirstine Linebaugh (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X HS).
The Bruins finished the 2009 season with a 29-10 overall record, a perfect 14-0 MCAC mark and their third-straight appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship. Bellevue was ranked No. 14 in the final NAIA national poll.
