Muller, Fredenburg named BU Athletes of the Year
Senior volleyball All-American Rachel Muller and senior men's basketball player Jace Fredenburg were named the 2009-10 Bellevue University Athletes of the Year at BU's year-end banquet which celebrated all of the department's accomplishments during the past academic year.

The athletes of the year were chosen based on their success on the court and in the classroom as well as their contributions to the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative.

Muller earned third team NAIA All-American honors while leading the Bruins to a 29-10 overall record, a 14-0 conference mark, and the program's third-consecutive appearance at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.

Muller led Bellevue with 453 kills and was second with 452 digs. She also had a team-leading 23 double-doubles on the season. Muller finished her Bellevue career ranked highly in several statistical categories, including second in career kills (1,563), third in career digs (1,829), and fourth in career points (1783.5).

The 2009 MCAC Player of the Year, Muller was a three-time first team all-MCAC selection and was named to numerous all-tournament teams as well as being named the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald's all-Nebraska team.

Fredenburg earned honorable mention all-MCAC honors while averaging 10.4 points per game this season.. He hit a team-leading 73 3-pointers and played in all 36 games, starting in 26.

Fredenburg was named the MCAC Player of the Week on Feb. 22 after averaging 25 points per game in wins over Haskell Indian Nations and Central Christian. He scored a career high 27 points, including six 3-pointers in the 105-69 win over Central Christian on Feb. 20.

Ranked seventh in school history with 125 career 3-pointers, Fredenburg earned honorable mention NAIA all-Nebraska honors while also winning the Bruin basketball's Champions of Character award for 2009-10.
