Amber Richardson

Amber Richardson begins her 11th season on the Bruin women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach in 2018. Richardson began coaching in 2005 as the head coach for the Gladiator Hornets boys’ team. She currently coaches for the Omaha Futbol Club and holds her NSCAA National coaching license.

Richardson played for the University of Nebraska, a top 10 NCAA Division I program from 2002-03. While there, the team won the Big XII Tournament in 2002. That same year, she also received the Power Lifter of the Year award for the Nebraska women’s soccer program.

In 2004, she transferred to the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she was a three-year starter. UNO made it to the Final Four in 2004 and 2005 and went on to win the NCAA Division II national championship in 2005. Richardson was a central figure on the national championship team and finished her career as a two-time all-North Central Conference and all-Region selection.

Richardson graduated from UNO in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in family science with an emphasis in health and physical education, earning cum laude honors. In addition to her accolades on the field she also received NSCAA Scholar All-American honors in 2005 and 2006 and was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team in 2006.

Richardson grew up in LaVista, Neb. where she graduated from Papillion-LaVista High School as an all-state soccer player.

She currently resides in Omaha with her husband Matt, son Trey, and daughter Jayda.
