Eight from women's soccer recognized by CAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Eight student-athletes from the Bellevue University women's soccer team have been named to the Continental Athletic Conference's all-CAC teams, as announced by the CAC office on Tuesday.

Earning first team all-CAC honors were senior midfielder Ketlyn Rota (Porto, Portugal), senior defender Morgan McIlnay (Omaha, Neb.), and sophomore defender Maju Serrano (Quito, Ecuador).

Rota scored three goals and four assists while starting 13 of the 15 games she played on the year. Serrano scored three goals and six assists after appearing in all 16 games with 15 starts and combined with McIlnay to anchor a back line that has posted six shutouts and limited opposition to just 70 shots on goal (4.4 per games). McIlnay, who started all 16 games for the Bruins, was also Bellevue Champion of Character recipient this season.

Four Bruins earned second team all-CAC honors including junior forward Sami Reding (Papillion, Neb.), junior midfielder Mia Hurt (Omaha, Neb.), senior defender Britney Nolte (Springfield, Neb.), and sophomore goalkeeper Alessia Ricciardi (Milan, Italy).

Reding scored a team-high four goals and added an assist while playing nine games before suffering a season ending injury. Hurt scored three goals and added and assist after starting eight games. Nolte appeared in all 16 games with nine starts while totaling an assist and serving along that defensive line which posted six shutouts.

Ricciardi has played every minute in goal for BU this season totaling 47 saves for a .691 save percentage and posted a 1.31 goal against average on the back of six shutouts.

Freshman forward Baylee Tex (Papillion, Neb.) was named to the honorable mention all-CAC team. Tex scored a goal and an assist while starting nine games and playing in 15 of 16 games during her debut season.

The Bruins currently stand at 9-5-2 on the year and will play in the CAC Championship Match for the fourth-straight season tomorrow against Georgia Gwinnett College. The match will kick-off at 6 p.m. with the winner claiming the CAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
