OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Sami Reding scored with less than two minutes to play to lift the Bellevue University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Oklahoma City University on Thursday evening.
The win snaps a two-match winless streak for the Bruins as BU improves to 5-0-2 on the year. OCU slips to 4-2-0 on the season.
An evenly matched first half on the stat sheet show the teams enter the break scoreless. Each side managed four shots, though OCU put a pair on frame, and two corner kicks.
Alessia Ricciardi stopped both shots on goal she faced, coming up with saves on Abby Russell and Amelia Horsford in the 41st and 42nd minutes, respectively.
Baylee Tex recorded Bellevue's first shot on goal in the 57th minute but she came up empty as Gemma Harvey made her lone save for the Stars.
With time winding down as the clock approached two minutes, Yami Ponce sent a shot over the bar with as the Stars looked for a late winner.
Hitting on the counterattack, Emma Madej took the ball up the near sideline and into the OCU box. She sent a cross to Sami Reding in the middle of the box beat Harvey with a rocket top shelf for the game-winner.
The Bruins are back in action on Saturday for a 5 p.m. kick-off at University of Science & Arts.
