GREENWOOD, Ind. -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2023 women's soccer Academic All-District Teams Tuesday afternoon, and the Bruins had a pair of student-athletes recognized.
Student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA, were recognized for this honor.
Representing Bellevue University on the CSC Women's Soccer Academic All-District team were Ximena Jauregui (Cancun, Mexico) and Morgan McIlnay (Omaha, Neb.).
Jauregui, who is a Psychology major minoring in Athletic Coaching, has a 3.59 cumulative GPA. She has earned back-to-back Continental Athletic Conference Player of the Year awards after leading Bellevue with 11 goals, 11 assists, and 33 points this season. Earlier this month Jauregui was announced as a two-time honoree on the all-CAC first team after earning CAC All-Tournament Team honors for her performance at the conference tournament.
McIlnay, who is a Psychology major minoring in Athletic Coaching, has a 3.92 cumulative GPA. She was a second-team all-CAC selection this year, totaling three assists and helping the defense post a 0.88 goals against average, registering eight shutouts in 16 games. McIlnay was a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete a season ago and is on her way to repeating as such this year, in addition to being a three-time CAC Academic All-Conference selection.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically. They must have competed in 90% of the institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Graduate students must have a minimum of 3.50 for both their graduate program GPA and their undergraduate GPA.
Both student-athletes will move onto the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the announcement of those teams coming out on December 19th.
The Bruins wrapped up the 2023 season with an overall record of 12-3-1, claiming the top seed in the Continental Athletic Conference Tournament and reaching the CAC title game for the third straight season.
