Serrano cited as CAC Defensive Award Winner

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University freshman Maju Serrano (Quito, Ecuador) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Tuesday.

Serrano helped Bellevue post a pair of road shutouts last week at Florida College and New College of Florida. In the win over Florida College, she provided a pair of assists including contributing to the game-winning strike.

She anchored a defensive unit that yielded just 12 total shots, just three of which found their way on frame.

Bellevue has posted four-straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal in 413:35 minutes of game time. For the season, the Bruins have now totaled eight shutouts, posted a 0.79 goals against average, and are allowing just 4.6 shots on goal per game.

Bellevue wrapped up the regular-season with an 11-2-1 overall record and will likely be the top seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament beginning Thursday, Nov. 9 in Lawrenceville, Ga. hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College.
