Seniors honored as Bruins post third-straight victory

Controlling the game from start to finish the Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Waldorf University 3-0 on Senior Day.

Following the match, Bellevue's 10 seniors - Kaycee DrieverJaycee BillingsJaedyn TryonTaylan MurpheyXimena JaureguiMaddy VasquezEliza ChristensenElla PelletierAngela Miranda, and Emma Stock - were recognized for their contributions to the program.

Bellevue started on the right foot, scoring in the ninth minute. Morgan McIlnay provided a deep cross to Ximena Jauregui that Jauregui headed home for a 1-0 Bruin lead. 

The Bruins controlled the pace of play along with the possession from there. Kaycee Driever doubled the Bruin lead in the 24th minute as Maju Serrano slid a pass across the box, and Driever slid in with a one-timer to double the lead.

The score remained 2-0 at the halftime whistle, with the Bruins holding a 9-3 edge in shots and 4-0 in corner kicks.

Bellevue again controlled the game in the second half, with Emma Madej providing an insurance tally in the 71st minute. Morgan McIlnay played Madej in behind the defense, and Madej's first touch got her by the keeper and in position for a wide-open goal.

Eliza Christensen, earning her first Bruin start, stopped a pair of shots to post her first shutout.

Samantha Linteo made seven saves for Waldorf in the loss as BU out-shot the Warriors 16-4 overall and 10-2 on goal.

Bellevue travels to the Sunshine State next week for a pair of games. First up, the Bruins will face Florida College (2-7-4) on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
