Columbia halts BU win streak, 3-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat at #8 Columbia College on Tuesday afternoon.

Bellevue saw their win streak halted at four games as the Bruins fall to 6-2-1 on the year while the Cougars improve to 6-1-0 and remain unbeaten against NAIA competition.

Following a pretty even opening 20 minutes that saw both sides look dangerous at times, Riley Porter put Columbia on the board. She stole a pass, dribbled into box, unleashed shot from 16 yards to far lower corner to open the scoring.

That would be the lone first half strike as the Cougars nursed a 1-0 lead at the break despite a 12-3 advantage in shots.

Abigail Logan doubled the lead to 2-0 with her 69th minute tally from Macie Lucas. Lucas received the ball at the edge of the six, delivered a pass to Logan near the penalty spot, and Logan ripped a shot high for the goal.

Isabella Govero provided an insurance strike in the 81st minute after receiving a pass from Porter. Porter won a header about 40 yards from goal, dribbled into the box and linked up with Govero who one-timed a shot into the back of the net.

Natalie Allison stopped all four shots on goal she faced for the Cougars who out-shot Bellevue 22-4 on the day and 13-4 on goal.

Alessia Ricciardi made a season-high 10 saves in the loss for BU.

Bellevue travels to Creve Coeur, Mo. next Wednesday, Oct. 3 for a 5 p.m. kick-off at Missouri Baptist University (2-7-0).
