PAPILLION, Neb. -- After a dominating first half that saw them go up, the Bellevue University women's soccer team held on for a 1-1 draw with Midland University on Wednesday evening at Papillion Landing.

Records:

Bellevue: 6-1-1
Midland: 2-3-3

BU 1, Midland 1

Bellevue took immediate control from the opening kick-off, dominating possession and chances in the game's first 45 minutes.

Sami Reding put Bellevue on the board first unleashing a long-range shot that Hannah Tillison mishandled into her own goal for a 1-0 BU lead. The goal was Reding's team-leading sixth of the season.

The score remained 1-0 through the remainder of the half with Bellevue accumulating an 8-1 edge in shots and winning a pair of corner kicks.

In the second half, the script entirely flipped as Midland were the aggressors and found themselves doing what the Bruins did early.

Brittany Llanes pulled the Warriors level ahead of the hour mark with a strike in the 60th minute. Claudia Wilson slipped a pass through the box that Llanes teed up for a one-time shot inside the far post.

Bellevue regained some of their footing from there as the teams played to a virtual stalemate the rest of the match.

Both Tillison and BU keeper Jenn Amaro made three saves for their respective sides. The Bruins finished with a 10-7 advantage in shots on the evening.

Player of the Match:

Millie Hopkisson

Coach Tom White:

"It was literally a game of two halves. First half, we grew in confidence and frustrated the opponent creating chances. Second half, we started slow and mentally switched off to concede. We learn and move onto the next one."
