BU shuts out Tabor for best start since 2014

HILLSBORO, Kan. -- Ketlyn Rota and Ximena Jauregui scored first half goals to power Bellevue to a 2-0 road win over Tabor College on Saturday afternoon.

Ketlyn Rota put Bellevue on the board in the 19th minute, scoring her second goal of the season off a pass from Ximena Jauregui.

With the first half winding down, Jauregui struck for a goal of her own, coming unassisted in the 44th minute. The goal was Jauregui's third of the season.

Bellevue out-shot Tabor 10-1 in the opening half and 14-5 for the game while racking up a 10-2 corner kick advantage for the contest.

Jenn Amaro stopped all four shots on goal that she faced to earn her third shutout of the year as she lowered her goals against average to 0.50 while upping her save percentage to .880.

Ashly Johnson made six saves in the loss for Tabor.

The 5-1-0 start by the Bruins is their best to open a season since also beginning the 2014 campaign 5-1-0. That year they went on to finish 16-2-0 and qualify for the NAIA National Tournament.
