Cougars down Bellevue, 4-1

PAPILLION, Neb. -- Angela Miranda scored the lone goal for the Bellevue University women's soccer team in the Bruins' 4-1 loss to No. 13-ranked Columbia College on Tuesday afternoon.

Delfina Zolesio scored twice in a three-goal first half for Columbia as the Cougars built an .

Zolesio opened the scoring in the 12th minute, slotting home a shot between the legs of oncoming keeper Sabrina Staufenbiel.

Bellevue answered back in the 24th minute when Angela Miranda came sliding in to the front of the goal and tipped home Bruna Bielski's free kick which had deflected off the wall.

The tie game lasted for less than two and a half minutes until Maddy Schrader put the Cougars back on top. Alone atop the 18, Schrader placed her shot low and to the right inside the post for a 2-1 lead.

Zolesio scored a second goal by converting a penalty in the 41st minute.

Brooke Schneider put the game entirely out of reach in the 54th minute. She settled a cross from Macie Lucas and uncorked a high shot over the goalkeeper for a 4-1 lead.

Staufenbiel totaled six saves, including one on a penalty kick. Three Columbia keepers recorded a save each in the win.

Coach Tom White:

"Columbia deserved the win but we felt the score line was a bit harsh. There are a lot of takeaways today for us moving forward."
