BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team avenged an earlier loss to Viterbo University, scoring two second-half goals as the Bruins ended the regular season with a 2-1 victory over the V-Hawks Saturday afternoon at Faiman Field on the Bellevue West High School campus.
Bellevue improved to 10-4 on the season with the win. Viterbo dropped to 9-8 overall.
A goal by Rachel Rudd in the 35th minute gave VU a 1-0 advantage in the first half.
The Bruins tied the contest 4:35 into the second half with a goal by Emily Weyant off an assist by Maiwut Dar. The goal was Weyant's team-leading 10th of the season.
Maria Tome Flores scored the game-winner in the 79th minute to help the Bruins secure their 10th win of the season.
BU outshot the V-Hawks, 14-8, including an 11-2 advantage in the second half. The Bruins held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
The Bruins will play Viterbo again next week in the semifinals of the A.I.I. Tournament in Lawrenceville, Ga. on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett University.
