V-Hawks take down Bruins, 5-1

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Four different V-Hawks scored – including Abbey Kellner who scored twice – as the Bellevue University women's soccer team fell to Viterbo University 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at V-Hawks Soccer Field.

Recap:

Tessa Whitney scored a 24th minute goal to put Viterbo on the board first. Sydney King doubled the V-Hawk lead in the 44th (assisted by Rachel Rudd) minute to give Viterbo some extra momentum into halftime.

Abbey Kellner scored goals in the 56th (assisted by King) and 68th minutes with a 63rd minute (assisted by Riley Pennington) strike from Madisyn Irwin sandwiched in-between.

Sofia Colvin allowed the Bruins to avoid the shutout with her first goal as a Bruin, scoring with just one second left on the game clock.

Abby Breitbach stopped all four shots on goal that she faced in 82:19 to pick up the win. Kate Cronin finished the game in goal for the V-Hawks.

Sabrina Staufenbiel stopped four shots in goal for the Bruins over 67:12 before giving way to Faith Smith to work the final 22:48.

Despite the scoreline, Bellevue out-shot Viterbo 15-14 in the match but were out-done 10-6 in shots on goal.

The Bruins wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 3 when they host Viterbo at Bellevue Soccer Club. Kick-off is scheduled for noon.
