Bruins top Waldorf, 2-0, in regular-season finale

FOREST CITY, Iowa -- Kylee Mastromonaco and Maiwut Dar both scored to lead the Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Waldorf University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Bolstorff Field in the regular-season finale for both schools.

With the victory, Bellevue wraps up the 2017 regular season with an 11-4-0 (3-1-0 NSAA) record while the loss sees Waldorf conclude the season with a record of 1-17-0 (0-4-0 NSAA).

Mastromonaco put the Bruins on the board in the 27th minute with a penalty kick. The goal gave the Bruins a 1-0 halftime lead as BU piled up 15 shots in the first half. Waldorf manage just one in the period.

The second half saw Bellevue hold a 6-1 shots advantage with Dar doubling the Bruin lead in the 64th minute. She took a through ball at midfield and ran one-on-one before finding the back of the net.

Bellevue out-shot Waldorf 21-2 (9-1 on goal) in the game.

Laurence Rodier stopped the only shot on goal she faced to earn the shutout and victory in net. Hanna DeVries stopped seven shots in the losing effort.

The Bruins begin their post-season journey on Friday, Nov. 10 in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament semi-finals in Lawrenceville, Ga. The bracket and game times will be announced on Monday, Oct. 30.
